CURRENT SIMBL HALL OF FAME METRICS

BEND ACE 'FAST EDDIE' BATISTA & CALGARY'S YOUNG ARTURO MARTINEZ MAKE HISTORY WITH MOST STRIKEOUTS IN A GAME IN SIMBL HISTORY

Bend's uber-ace "Fast Eddie" Batista (above), the #1 overall pick of the 2046, the second player in SIMBL history to go directly from the draft bypassing the SIMBL minor leagues and directly into the SIMBL, four-time and reigning UL Hurler Of The Year, seven-time All-Star and all-time SIMBL shutouts leader all by the age of 28 years-old in his ninth season with the Bandits and the top-ranked starting pitcher in the SIMBL for the past seven consecutive seasons, recently set a new all-time single-game strikeout record in the SIMBL's 50-season history by striking out 20 Calgary Clippers on May 9, 2054 allowing two hits, four walks and two runs and shockingly the Bandits lost him the game in 11 innings.

Calgary's third-year starting pitcher Arturo Martinez (above) a second round pick, 30th overall, in the 2050 SIMBL Draft by the Clippers recently struck out 19 St. Petersburg Admirals in a 16-5 rout on June 14, 2054.  Martinez's 19 strikeouts in the game are the second-most Ks in a game in the SIMBL's 50-year history and only Bend's Eddie Batista's 20 strikeouts a month earlier are more in a game in the history of the league. Though off to a more pedestrian start this season, the 24 year-old southpaw is off to a good start to his SIMBL career also hurling a no-hitter last season and is a hopeful long-term productive fixture in the Clippers plans for their starting rotation for seasons to come.

Two of the SIMBL's longest-standing individual game records have been broken and a rare six-hit game have all taken place in the early 2054 season in recent SIM news.

Bend's uber-ace Eddie Batista set a new all-time SIMBL single-game record with 20 strikeouts on May 9, 2054 against Calgary.

The four-time UL Hurler Of The Year who won three of the awards in four seasons in 2047. 2049 and 2050 and is the reigning UL Hurler Of The Year and a 7-time All-Star, threw a complete game and allowed two hits and two runs walking four and set a new SIMBL single-season record in the 50-year history of the league with 20 strikeouts and shockingly the Bandits lost the game 3-2 in 11 innings to the division rival Clippers.

The 28 year-old Batista, a generational talent that the SIMBL has rarely seen and by the end of his career will be debated with the likes of SIMBL Hall Of Famers Bobby Grimes, James Sousa, Alan Alexander Anderson and Richard Dicks Jr. as the best pitcher to put on a SIMBL uniform, already holds the all-time SIMBL career record with 43 shutouts in only his 9th season. Batista was the #1 overall pick of the 2046 SIMBL Draft and at age 20 became the second player in SIMBL history, after Whitby's Pedro Cendejas Jr. in 2040, to go directly from the SIMBL Draft to the SIMBL and not play a game in the SIMBL minor leagues.

Batista 7 shutouts in 2050 and 2053 along with Texas' ace and 2046 UL Hurler Of The Year, six-time All-Star and 2041 #1 overall pick of the 2041 SIMBL Draft Marc Jackson's 7 shutouts in 2052 are a record for most in a single-season in SIMBL history.  Batista's six in 2052, and SIMBL Hall Of Famers Alberto Tovar's six in 2022 and Bobby Grimes' six shutouts in 2011 are second-most in a season in SIMBL history combining both the First File Era (2005-2018) and New File Era (2019-current).

In his 9th season, "Fast Eddie" has already posted thirteen games of 15 or more strikeouts which are second-most all-time to SIMBL all-time strikeout leader Chris Morales' fifteen games for the most in SIMBL history. New York ace Ken Hunter, a three-time 20-game winner, has struck out 15 or more batters in a game eleven times while Texas ace Marc Jackson is next down on the list having done it four times.

New York's Ken Hunter, one of a handful of pitchers to win a Fireman Of The Year Award and also a Hurler Of The Year Award winning the UL Fireman Of The Year Award in 2046 and 2047 and then won the UL Hurler Of The Year Award as his league's best ace in 2051, is an 8-time All-Star as well in his 11th season and is in his seventh season as a full-time starter pitcher since dominating the league as a reliever and closer in the first four seasons of an already decorated career. The 33 year-old 36th overall pick of the 2042 SIMBL Draft is the only pitcher in SIMBL history to have 300 strikeouts in five consecutive seasons from 2048-2052.

Batista previously tied the former SIMBL all-time record of 18 strikeouts in a game on April 18, 2052 against Boston. Batista tied the previous record set by Chris Morales which stood since the May 20, 2046 league date.

Morales, who played from 2033-2051 and was a four-time All-Star, is the all-time SIMBL strikeout leader with 4986 career K's which are an unfathomable 887 more then SIMBL Hall Of Famer Jimmy Wagner's second-place 4009.  Even though holding such a dominating record, Morales hasn't come close to being voted into the SIMBL Hall Of Fame by SIMBL GMs in their annual SIMBL Hall Of Fame voting. In 19 seasons, Morales went 228-204 with a 4.38 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 595 career starts which are 8th-most in SIMBL history.

Morales led the SIMBL in strikeouts for a SIMBL-record 16 consecutive seasons and had three seasons of 300+ strikeouts becoming the first pitcher in the SIMBL New File Era to have 300 strikeouts in a season and in 2044 became the first in 31 years to achieve the season feat.

A little bit more than a month after Batista added to his impressive Hall Of Fame-headed resume, Calgary's 24 year-old Arturo Martinez, in his third season, set the second-most strikeouts in a game in the SIMBL's 50-season history by striking out 19 against St. Petersburg on the June 14, 2054 league date.

The Clippers 2050 second round draft pick, 30th overall, had an unexpected breakout season last season going 19-7 with a 2.98 ERA and threw a no-hitter against Texas on August 17, 2053.  Martinez is off to a 6-5 start this season with a 4.18 ERA and hasn't struck out over 15 batters in any other game of his short career in his first 62 SIMBL starts but has unexpectedly come out of a herd of a potentially solid stock of SIMBL young starting pitchers.

In the 36-season SIMBL New File Era (2019-current) there have been 86 games that a pitcher struck out 15 or more batters in a game or a current average of 2.3 a season.  Morales' 15, Batista's 13 and Jackson's 4 games of 15+ games account account for 33.8% of all games of 15+ strikeouts in the SIMBL New File Era.

In the 14-season SIMBL First File Era (2005-2018), there were 28 games in which pitchers struck out 15 or more batters.  Combining those 28 games with the SIMBL New File Era's (2019-current) 86 games of the same, as of the 6/22/2054 league date there have been a combined 114 total games that a pitcher has had a 15+ strikeout game in the combine era's in the SIMBL's 50-season history or an average of 2.9 games per season throughout the combined history of the league.

Former First File Era flamethrower Thomas "Deacon" Leverett holds the SIMBL First File Era record with 18 strikeouts in a game and had two games of 17 strikeouts in a game. Leverett's single-game record of 18 strikeouts set in the SIMBL's inaugural season in 2005 stood for 41 years until Chris Morales tied it on May 20, 2046 while Eddie Batista tied them both for most strikeouts in a SIMBL game six seasons later on May 18, 2052.  In the span over a month this season, Bend's Eddie Batista and Calgary's Arturo Martinez struck out the most batters in a game in 50 years and now sit atop of the all-time single-game strikeout list.

While 300-strikeout seasons were more common in the SIMBL First File Era with with 11 such seasons in the 14-year history of the First File Era, there have been only fourteen 300-strikeout seasons in the current 36-season history of the SIMBL New File Era since the 2019 season.  In the 2044 season, Chris Morales had the first 300-strikeout season in the SIMBL in 31 years since the 2013 First File Era season.

There have been only 24 300-strikeout seasons in the SIMBL's 50-year history with 12 coming in the past five seasons.  Bend's Eddie Batista and New York's Ken Hunter have a SIMBL-record five seasons of 300+ strikeouts while SIMBL all-time strikeout leader Chris Morales had three 300 K seasons.  First File Era ace Deangelo Ceja, the #1 overall pick of the 2011 SIMBL Draft, who came back as a Supplemental Free Agent in the SIMBL New File Era, holds the all-time single-season record with 344 strikeouts a record that has stood since the 2013 season and was his only 300-strikeout season.

Bend's Eddie Batista and New York's Ken Hunter, who has been named an All-Star for eight consecutive seasons, currently hold the SIMBL career record with five 300-strikeout seasons.  First File Era Hall Of Famer James Sousa had four 300-strikeout seasons.  SIMBL all-time strikeout leader Chris Morales oddly enough had only three 300-strikeout seasons in a 19-year career that featured 4896 career sit downs.

SIMBL Hall Of Famer, eight-time SL Hurler Of The Year and three-time SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series MVP Bobby Grimes had two 300-K seasons.  All-time single-season strikeout record holder Deangelo Ceja, current Texas ace Marc Jackson and SIMBL First File ace and two-time Hurler Of The Year Michael Arnett, the first pitcher in SIMBL history to win the award in the Union League and also won the award in the Syndicate League and Oregon's First File Era ace Angel Rodriguez, who still holds the SIMBL single-season record with Bobby Grimes with 35 quality starts in the 2013 season are the remaining pitchers who have had the rare 300-strikeout season in the league's long 50-season history.

In more rarity early in the 2054 SIMBL season, AC Kansas City slugger Ty Blaney last season's SL MVP runner-up, posted the first 6-hit game since the 2051 season and only the 21st six-hit game in the SIMBL's 36-season New File Era (2019-current).  There were only 12 legitimate such 6-hit games in the 14-season SIMBL First File Era omitting the three-season 'Steroid Era' that ridiculed player statistics during the 2016-2018 seasons which led the retirement of the file and the birth of the SIMBL New File Era.  Combined, there have only been 38 legitimate six-hit games in the 50-year history of the league.

As of the 6/22/2054 league date, here's an updated list of the most strikeouts by a pitcher in a game and in a season in the SIMBL's 50-season history:
