The Two Long-Time Syndicate League Rivals Drafted Three Picks Apart In 2019 Who Dominated The SL For Almost Two Decades Together For The Title Of Best Closer, With 2778 Games Pitched, 1361 Saves, Six Fireman Of The Year Awards & 28 All-Star Games Between Them Respectfully, Finally & Appropriately Are Enshrined Together Into SIMBL Hall Of Fame

Voted dutifully as a formality into the SIMBL Hall Of Fame as the Class Of 2043 is SIMBL all-time saves leader Cedric Issacson (above).  Issacson was selected #10 overall by long-time Las Vegas GM Carl Hannah in the 2019 SIMBL Amateur Draft and spent his first twelve SIMBL seasons with the Hustlers.  He then played seven seasons with San Diego and finished his career with two seasons with Boston spending all of his career in the Syndicate League winning a championship with Las Vegas in 2031 and with San Diego in 2033.  Issacson is one of only 8 closers in the SIMBL's 39-season history to have a 50-save season and is the only closer to have done it more than once as he holds 3 of the 11 50-save seasons in league history.  His 14 All-Star Game appearances are tied for second in league history and his 13 consecutive seasons of being named an All-Star is the longest in SIMBL history.  He is one of four closers in SIMBL history to win four Fireman Of The Year Awards winning the award in 2028 and 2032 with the Hustlers and in 2034 and 2035 with the Warewolves.  Issacson is one of only three SIMBL closers (joining Dez Jordan and Chris Ross) to have 600 career saves and is the SIMBL all-time saves leader with 682 career saves.

Long-time Asheville closer Dez Jordan (above) was voted by SIMBL GMs along with SIMBL all-time saves leader Cedric Issacson as the Class Of 2043 into the SIMBL Hall Of Fame.  Jordan's 679 saves, three short of Issacson, are the second-most in the SIMBL's 39-season history.  Jordan was the #7 overall pick of the 2019 SIMBL Amateur Draft, three picks ahead of Issacson, by long-time Smokies GM Pete McGowan.  Jordan was a 14-time All-Star which tied for second-most in SIMBL history.  Jordan was a two-time SL Fireman Of The Year winning the award with Asheville in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.  Jordan is also one of eleven pitchers to win a Fireman Of The Year Award and Middle Reliever Of The Year Award in their career by also winning the SL Middle Reliever Of The Year Award in 2025.  Jordan is one of only three relievers in league history to win a LCS MVP Award winning the 2028 SLCS MVP Award and helped win the 2028 SIMBL championship with Asheville.  Jordan appeared in 1472 games which are the most in SIMBL history, 166 more than the second-place Issacson.  Jordan spent his first 20 seasons with Asheville, three seasons with Las Vegas and his last season with Norfolk.  Like Issacson, Jordan spent his entire career in the SL as both closers battled for supremacy as the SL's best closer for close to two decades together and with 1361 saves between them are the two most dominating closers in SIMBL history in a league that has seen an ample share of Hall Of Fame-worth closers in the past 39-seasons.  Besides battling each other for over 20 seasons for the title of the best closer in the SL and also in the entire SIMBL, ironically both were inducted together into the SIMBL Hall Of Fame, both had 14 All-Star team appearances, both had identical 89.0% career save percentages and also both blew only the same identical 84 saves in both of their careers.

His beautiful bronze plaque on the wall said it all: 682 saves, 114 wins, and a 2.41 ERA. Those stats got Cedric Issacson elected to the SIM Baseball League Hall of Fame, and today the bullpen star gained his rightful place among the baseball legends.

In a jovial mood, Issacson said in his induction speech, "I especially want to thank all the starting pitchers who couldn't go nine innings...they got me here."

Cedric Issacson finished his career at the age of 43. In 1306 games, he pitched 1425 innings, struck out 1546 batters, walked 431, and had a 114-87 won-lost mark.

Another pitcher was inducted into the SIM Baseball League Hall of Fame today, but this time it wasn't a starting pitcher. Instead, Dez Jordan proved that relievers were worth such a distinction for a career that spanned 1472 appearances. His dominating presence led to 679 saves and a 2.45 ERA, while he struck out 1749 in his 1670.1 innings. During his career Jordan also chalked up a 118-118 record.

"A lot of people think that relievers aren't important enough to be considered Hall of Fame material," the bullpen ace said during his speech. "But my teammates knew differently. All the starters loved having me come in after one of their good performances because they knew they'd get a win that day. I'm just glad that there are other people that agree with them."

Dez Jordan ended his career at the age of 41.

The ballots are counted and the results are in. This year we will witness two players added to the Hall of Fame. Cedric Issacson, and Dez Jordan received the ultimate honor this year in being voted as the newest members of the SIMBL Hall of Fame.

The full voting results are included here. Players require 66% of ballots cast to be elected to the Hall, and stay on the ballot as long as they receive at least 0% of the votes. Players must be retired before they are eligible for induction to the Hall of Fame.
