CLEVELAND WINS THEIR FIRST SIMBL TITLE IN 31 YEARS, OUST HAWAII IN GAME SEVEN EXTRA-INNINGS TO WIN 2057 SIMBL COVETED CUP CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Cleveland catcher Grady Nelson, who earlier in the top of the 10th inning hit a solo game-winning home run off of Hawaii's 2057 SL Fireman Of The Year Paco Montoya, leads a celebration after the Brownies' Desi Owens put down the powerful Pineapples offense in order in the bottom of the inning as the Brownies win a classic full seven game series in dramatic fashion over Hawaii to give Cleveland their first SIMBL championship since the 2026 season and their second overall in the franchise's long 53-year history.
Cleveland 3B Derek Large (above), a pending free agent, was selected by Hawaii with the 15th overall pick in the 2047 SIMBL Draft. Large spent his first 5.5 seasons with Pineapples. The 32 year-old two-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger and one-time Gold Glover did his former team in by playing sensationally in the 2057 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series and was named the 2057 SIMBL CS MVP.
Hawaii closer Paco Montoya, (above) this season's SL Fireman Of The Year, reacts after giving up what would be the series-winning home run to Cleveland's Grady Nelson in the top of the 10th inning of Game Seven of the 2057 SIMBL CS. The 40th overall pick of the 2048 SIMBL Draft was nearly untouchable in the regular season by posting the 15th 50-save season in SIMBL history, leading the league in reliever appearances and saving 51 of 53 opportunities- a SIMBL-leading 96.2% conversion rate.

The SIMBL's 53rd Coveted Cup Championship Series is in the books and what a concluding series to the 2057 SIMBL season it was.
In one of the most memorable title series in SIMBL history, GM Greg Adler's Cleveland Brownies ousted the Hawaii Pineapples of GM David MacKenzie in seven games needing extra-innings in Game Seven to win their second league title in the franchise's 53-year history and their first in 31 seasons since the 2026 season when they swept the Sacramento Giants of current longtime GM Jason Gregory on real-life date July 24, 2013, over 8 years ago.
Former Pineapple 3B Derek Large, who was drafted by Hawaii as the 15th overall pick in the 2047 SIMBL Draft and spent his first five and a half seasons with the Pineapples before he was traded to Rochester during the 2055 season and then promptly released by the Roosters, did his old team in as the Brownies third baseman earned the 2057 SIMBL CS MVP Award.
Cleveland GM Greg Adler spent heavily last off-season and put together one of the most vaunted starting rotations in SIMBL history on paper. Those expectations came to fruition as the Brownies rotation of Marc Jackson (2041), Keith Barton (2045) and Jett Helms (2051), all former #1 overall draft picks of past SIMBL Drafts, and fellow Top 25-rated veteran pitchers Jesus Castillo and William Branch were too much to take for the league-leading Hawaii offense. Castillo was named Player Of The Game in Game Three and Game Seven, Barton was named Player Of The Game in Game Two and Helms the same in Game Three.
After losing Game One, the Brownies won the next three games and took a commanding 3-1 series lead. The Pineapples didn't deter and won Game Five and Game Six to tie the series and force a Game Seven. Game Seven was an instant classic as the game was tied 3-3 after nine innings and became only the second Game Seven to go into extra-innings joining the Calgary Clippers win over the Las Vegas Hustlers in the 2023 SIMBL CS 34 years ago.
Cleveland's 24 year-old catcher Grady Nelson, the 21st overall pick of the 2051 SIMBL Draft, hit a 0-2 pitch barely over the left field wall off off this season's SL Fireman Of The Year, Hawaii's Paco Montoya, who blew only two saves in 53 save opportunities in 2057 (96.2%) and saved 51 games and posted only the 15th 50-save season in SIMBL history, to give the Brownies a 4-3 lead in the top of the 10th inning.
Cleveland's 24 year-old Desi Owens, the #10 overall pick of the 2054 SIMBL Draft, promptly retired the powerful Hawaii offense in order in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Brownies their first SIMBL championship in 31 years.
The frustrated Pineapples assembled by longtime GM Dave MacKenzie with the second-highest payroll in SIMBL history, have won four consecutive SL West divisional titles and were the SL #1 seed three times in the past four seasons yet to only have advanced the SIMBL CS this season and were looking for their first SIMBL championship in 28 years and are now 1-7 in eight overall trips to the SIMBL CS in the franchise's 53-season history.
Cleveland becomes the 11th wildcard team in SIMBL history to win a SIMBL championship. The Brownies win only the 10th seven-game title series in league history and only the second championship to be won in the full seven games in the past 28 seasons. After winning 14 SIMBL league titles in 15 seasons between 2032 and 2046, the Union League has won only two championships in the past 11 seasons as the rival Syndicate League has been dominant from 2047-2056.
Congratulations to Greg on his championship run and to Dave on a great season as his Pineapples still have enough loaded talent to cause fits for the foreseeable future in seasons to come.
The SIMBL's 53rd regular season has concluded in a season which the league passed its 15th real-life year anniversary of its founding on September 2nd, 2006. Four new teams ending postseason droughts return to the SIMBL postseason: Oregon, Texas, Chicago and Las Vegas. Calgary, New York, Knoxville and River City all sit home after making the postseason last season. Cleveland, Bristol, St. Petersburg and Hawaii all return to the postseason from last season. Congratulations to longtime SIMBL charter GM Greg Checovetes as his Owls (95-67) win their first UL East title in 12 seasons and return to the SIMBL postseason for the second consecutive season after clinching the UL wildcard berth in 2056. It's the 13th divisional title and the 17th overall postseason appearance for the SIMBL charter franchise. Bristol's 95 wins also clinched the UL's #1 postseason seed as the Owls seek their first championship since the 2017 season and their second overall. The Owls were ousted in seven games in the ULDS last season by Calgary. Congratulations to Texas GM Jeff Palin as his Roadrunners (92-71) beat the division rival Cleveland Brownies in a one-game playoff to win the 2057 UL Central crown. It's the third division title in the past four seasons and their fourth in the past six seasons. The Roadrunners rebound from a 75-87 record and improved 16.5 games in Jeff's first season back in the SIMBL since taking a hiatus after the 2052 season. It's the 10th division title and 16th overall postseason appearance in the SIMBL charter franchise's 53-season history. Congratulations to Oregon GM Jim Harasek whose Pioneers (91-71) win the UL West ousting defending divisional champion Calgary's six-season grip on the division. It's the second divisional title in the past three seasons and their fourth in the past ten seasons for the SIMBL charter franchise. The Pioneers lost a one-game playoff last season to Bristol for the 2056 UL wildcard last season becoming one of the few teams in the SIMBL's 53-year history to have won 90+ games and not make the postseason. Congratulations to Cleveland GM Greg Adler whose Brownies (91-72) lost to Texas in a one-game playoff for the UL Central crown but still clinched the UL wildcard berth. The Brownies make the postseason for the second consecutive season after losing to New York in seven games in the 2056 ULDS. It's the 5th wildcard berth in the franchise's 53-season history and their 22nd postseason trip overall.
Congratulations to St. Petersburg GM Brandon Popper as his Admirals (90-72) win the SL West for fourth consecutive season. It's the 9th divisional title and 10th overall postseason appearance in the franchise's 53-season history. St. Petersburg has advanced to the SLCS the past three seasons and won the 2056 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series and are the SIMBL's defending champions. The Admirals will attempt to be only the 8th defending team in theSIMBL's 53-year history to defend their title and to win back-to-back league championships.
Congratulations to Chicago GM Eric Hayman whose Hitmen (102-60) improved 15 games and win their first SL Central divisional title since their 2054 championship season. The Hitmen win the SL's and SIMBL's #1 seed. Eric wins his first SIMBL division title in his second season and first full season in the league. It's the 17th divisional title and 20th overall trip to the postseason in the SIMBL charter franchise's 53-season history.
Congratulations to Hawaii GM Dave MacKenzie as his Pineapples (97-66) defeated divisional rival Las Vegas in a one-game playoff to win their fourth consecutive SL West title. It's the 11th division crown and 14th overall postseason trip in the franchise's 53-season history.
Congratulations to Las Vegas GM Frank Cardoza as his Hustlers (96-76) clinch the SL wildcard. The Hustlers improved by 23.5 games from last season and make their second postseason trip in the past 13 seasons and their first in four seasons. It was Frank's first SIMBL division title in his first full season in the league.
