LANCE'S LISTS: MOST 200-HIT SEASONS IN SIMBL CAREERS & A LOOK AT THE BEST HITTING SINGLE SEASONS IN SIMBL HISTORY
Boston's Bruno King, Montreal's Kimoyo Shimazu & Cleveland's Brian Juguilon Make Cases In The Talk As The Best Hitters In SIMBL History
Boston's Bruno King (above) is pictured where he is always at before games- in the batting cage- taking one of the 500 pitches he takes each day. One of the hardest working players in the SIMBL, the #17 overall pick of the 2044 SIMBL Draft is already a seven-time All-Star in his 10th SIMBL season and has posted a SIMBL-record six consecutive 200-hit seasons and currently holds the all-time SIMBL career batting average record of .332 and has posted the most hits in a single season in SIMBL history when he had 237 in his second season in 2047 breaking the SIMBL First File Era's (2005-2018) Willard Gilmore's single-season hit record that stood for 39 years prior. In ten seasons, King's .332 career batting average in the first 5726 at bats of his career, stands as the top career batting average in SIMBL history. King reportedly has not entered discussions with the Patriots, who drafted and developed him and where he has played the first decade of his career, and is expected to enter the 2056 SIMBL free agency class as one of the highest-rated free agents in the past 10 years for SIMBL GMs to bid on if he remains unsigned and leaves Boston for the highest bidder come the 2056 SIMBL off-season.
The 36 year-old Kimoyo Shimazu (above left) is in his 19th SIMBL season and still going strong as one of the best current hitters in the SIMBL but also as one of the best, if not the best, hitter(s) in the SIMBL's 51-year history. A 12-time All-Star, Shimazu has posted a SIMBL-record nine 200-hit seasons in his storied career which stands three more than Bruno King's second-place six 200-hit seasons. Last season Shimazu became only the 12th player in SIMBL history to collect 3000 career hits and the Montreal DH is slowly climbing the SIMBL all-time hits list currently in 7th-place with 3182 career hits. The 11th overall pick of the 2036 SIMBL Draft is 9 hits from taking over 6th-place and 121 hits from standing alone in 5th-place on the coveted SIMBL all-time hits list and according to his still-elite 10/6/6/8/8 batting ratings still has a solid 2-4 seasons in him to chase the all-time SIMBL hits record of 3828 held by SIMBL Hall Of Famer and fellow Japanese countryman Akiro Hikaru. Shimazu's career .312 batting average ties for 4th-highest in the SIMBL's 37 year-old New File Era (2019-current).

By Lance Stanley SIMBL Contributor
Hi again youngsters. Lance Stanley reporting on the SIMBL.
It's been awhile bedwetters, but the Old Man Of The SIMBL is still alive and kicking and has been very busy tending to my beloved wife Betsy during her recent health issues. Despite such a strenuous task, I still find to time to get my mind off of things and peak in on the SIMBL consistently usually after long days and before even longer nights to keep an eye on the goings on in the league that I've followed and contributed to for over the past 14 real-life years.
Let's do that and take our minds off of things temporarily and have some baseball fun and look at some of the long history postings of one of the longest-running OOTP leagues online, shall we?
There have been a handful of hitters in the SIMBL's 51-season history that could have the label as the best hitter in SIMBL history or even as one of the best hitters in the SIMBL's long history. The debate has come to who, either in the SIMBL First File Era (2005-2018) or the current SIMBL New File Era (2019-current), is the best hitter in the SIMBL's 51 years of combined eras history.
200-hit seasons are a mark of a great season posted and a testament to what is usually an above average to a great hitter having a great season. Even more so, 200-hit seasons are rare to post. There have been only 141 200-hit seasons in the SIMBL New File Era's (2019-current) previous 36 full seasons or an average of less than four (3.91) players having 200 hits per seasons in the past 36 years of SIMBL history.
Only 17 such 200-hit seasons were accomplished in the SIMBL's infancy 14 years of the SIMBL First File Era (2005-2018) omitting the 2016-2018 damaged file seasons labeled in SIMBL lore as the "SIMBL 2016-2018 Steroid Era" in which offensive and pitching ratings and statistics became so unrealistic that the league had to retire the file and start completely anew with a new file which the league still competes with and started over with the 2019 SIMBL New File Era Inaugural Draft. while keeping the previous 14 seasons of history and record books. Seventeen 200-hit seasons in the 14-season SIMBL First File Era comes to an average to 1.21 such seasons per season in the entire SIMBL. Ignoring the 2016-2018 inflated seasons, that number of 17 200-hit seasons in the 11 realistic and authentic seasons and settings, the league averaged 1.54 such performances per season.
Adding the 17 First File Era's 200-hit seasons to the current New File Era's 141 200-hit seasons, the SIMBL has averaged 3.16 200-hit seasons per seasons for the full previous 50 seasons of statistical history through last season (2054) and not including the current 2055 season. At the halfway mark of the current 2055 season and with the SIMBL's Midsummer Classic and All-Star break approaching, if current players keep up the pace they are on this seaon, seven hitters are on pace and project to have the rare 200-hit seasons by the end of this season.
Current Montreal DH Kimoyo Shimazu has had an incredible nine 200-hit seasons in his 19-year career including seven 200-hit seasons in an eight season span from 2039 through the 2046 season. His only season in that span not to slap 200 hits was stalled by being limited to 112 games due to a torn meniscus and subsequent surgery that kept him out for 3 months in the 2042 season. Despite the injury on June 13, 2042, the 12-time All-Star still had 112 hits in his first 79 games that season which projected to well over 200 hits in his injured season that kept him from having a SIMBL-record eight consecutive 200-hit seasons.
The 36 year-old Shimazu was the 11th overall pick of the 2036 SIMBL Draft by the Oregon Pioneers. The 3-time Silver Slugger and 2-time Gold Glover made his SIMBL debut in 2037 at the tender age of 18 years-old and spent 16 seasons manning second base for the SIMBL charter franchise being named a SIMBL All-Star in 12 of 13 seasons between 2039 through 2051 save his 2044 season in which he hit .318 with 13 HR a career-high 115 RBI, 210 hits and 42 stolen bases and still was snobbed by SIMBL GMs from making the 2044 UL All-Star team after an uncharacteristic slow start for him for the first half of the 2044 season.
After 16 seasons with Oregon, he played two seasons for the Boston Patriots before signing last off-season with Montreal on a two-year $15,500,000 contract to give the Mavericks some nice contact and on base percentage in a DH role. Late last season, Shimazu became only the 12th player in SIMBL history to collect 3000 career hits. Still rated with 10/6/6/8/8 elite ratings, Shimazu looks to have a good 2-4 solid seasons of production in him and is one of only 28 total players currently in the SIMBL (or an average of 1.16 per team) to sport a rare 10-rated contact for high average and the second-oldest next to this 37 year-old teammate and former #1 overall pick of the 2039 SIMBL Draft Doug Henderson.
As of the 7/5/2055 league date, Shimazu has 3182 career hits which stands for 7th-place on the SIMBL's all-time hit list. The Hiratsuka, Japan export needs only 9 hits to pass controversial SIMBL Hall Of Famer Carl Chaulk's 3190 career hits for 6th-place on the touted list and needs only 31 more hits to pass SIMBL Hall Of Famer Kent Bennett to stand in fifth place on the all-time list. Shimazu is 121 hits away from taking over recent SIMBL Hall Of Fame first-ballot inductee Johnny Abraham for fourth-place on the all-time hits list.
Shimazu's current career batting average of .312 ties for fourth all-time on the SIMBL New File Era's 37-season history all-time career batting average list.
Boston's Bruno King is closest to Shimazu's record nine 200-hit seasons with six. The 32 year-old King holds the SIMBL record by posting 200-hit seasons in six consecutive seasons from 2047-2052. No other player in the combine eras SIMBL history other than King and Shimazu- who posted four consecutive 200-hit seasons from 2043-2046, has posted more than three consecutive 200-hits seasons.
Active Boston player Cory Browning post three consecutive 200-hit seasons from 2047-2049 while playing for Cleveland. Browning's former outfield teammate, Cleveland's Brian Juguilon, posted three consecutive 200-hit season in the 2052, 2053 and 2054 seasons.
SIMBL Hall Of Famers Artie Bradley posted three consecutive seasons of rare 200 hits from 2024-2026 and fellow SIMBL Hall Of Famer Jake Boles did the same from 2032-2034. During those six 200-hit seasons, Bradley and Boles won a combined three MVP awards between them.
Retired hitters who were regarded as top hitters in their prime years, Toronto's Lawrence Richardson (2042-2044), Tampa Bay's Darrell Garrett (2041-2043) and Hollywood-Austin's (now AC Kansas City) Jacob Barker (2039-2041), who had one of the most interesting careers in SIMBL history, are the only other players in the SIMBL's combined eras 51-season history to post three consecutive 200-hit seasons.
Boston's Bruno King, a three-time league batting champion and a seven-time All-Star in his 10th season after being the 17th pick of the 2044 SIMBL Draft by the Patriots, is currently nearly .40 points ahead of anybody else in the SIMBL and leading the league with a .371 average after the first 83 games of the 2055 SIMBL season. King, in the midst of a 2055 UL MVP season, is currently leading the SIMBL in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, hits and doubles, holds the all-time SIMBL single-season hits record with 237 in his second SIMBL season and first as a full-time player in 2047. King is the SIMBL's all-time leader with a career .332 batting average and has hit below .319 only once in his 10-year SIMBL career.
On pace for 230 hits this season, the two-time Silver Slugger has had seasons hitting in chronological order: .327, .352, .319, .333, .346, .345, .324, .297, and .323 in addition to his current .371 average at the halfway mark of the 2055 season.
Not surprisingly, Bruno King's 652 hits from 2047-2049 are second-most next to Cleveland's Brian Juguilon's 659 as the most in a three-season span in the 37 years of the SIMBL New File Era (2019-2054) and his 645 hits from 2050-2052 stand as the fourth-most in a three-season span. Convincingly, King holds four of the top seven most hit accumulations in a three-season span as well.
Of all the players in the past 37 seasons since the SIMBL New File Era started in the 2019 season, Boston's Bruno King's .333 career batting average leads all players while Cleveland's 30 year-old Brian Juguilon, a three-time batting champion and five-time on base percentage leader, holds the all-time second-place mark with a current .328 career batting average in his eighth season. Juguilon was voted the 2050 Union League Daryl Ryles MVP Award and is a six-time All-Star and a three-time postseason MVP. The 6th overall pick in the in the 2044 SIMBL Draft led the league in hits for three consecutive seasons from 2052 through 2054. Juguilon's .376 batting average for the 2052 season broke the 18 year-old record of SIMBL Hall Of Famer Matthew Brown who hit .367 for Westbury in the 2034 season. The two-time Gold Glove winner Juguilon's 234 hits that season also stand for the second-most in a season in the combined eras in SIMBL history and only stand behind's Boston's Bruno King's record-setting 237 hits in 2044.
Of players with at least 3000 career at bats during the past 37 seasons of the SIMBL New File Era, only 22 players have a career batting average of .300 or better. 10 are currently active players: Boston's Bruno King (.333), Cleveland's one-time MVP Brian Juguilon (.328), Hawaii's two-time MVP Kei Morita (.313), Montreal's Kimoyo Shimazu (.312), Bristol's Daniel Sarachaga (.309), St. Petersburg's Chris Covington (.304), Indianapolis' John Stolarski (.303), Hawaii's one-time MVP Carson Reese (.303), Oregon's Jorge Avila (.301) and Toronto's two-time MVP Jonathan Kloss (.300). Not surprisingly, all of the aforementioned players were former first round picks. Of the remaining 12 players who have posted a .300 career batting average in their SIMBL careers seven are SIMBL Hall Of Famers: Ju-Won Shi (.309), Akato Sakata (.306), D.D. Styles (.305), Artie Bradley (.305), Miguel Espinoza (.302), Tyler Conway (.301) and Keegan Bryant (.300).
Bruno King's 1089 hits from 2047-2051 are the most in a five-season span in the SIMBL New File Era's 37 seasons. King's 1060 hits from 2048-2052 also stand as the second-most hits in a five-season span as the 32 year-old seven-time All-Star holds the top two hit totals in a five-year span all by himself.
Based upon their accomplishments during their SIMBL careers and despite being 5 years apart in age, it's easy to assume that Shimazu and King are future locks to be inducted into the SIMBL Hall Of Fame in the future while both continue to crawl up the solidly-contested SIMBL Hall Of Fame Metrics boards.
Who is the SIMBL's all-time best hitter and we haven't even looked at the all-time hits list yet? Or have looked into the SIMBL's all-time hits king Akiro Hikaru (3828)?
Here's a quick "Lance's Lists" look at the top hitters and top hitting seasons in the SIMBL's 51-season history.
