River City SP Elbert Ford (above) looks on in 2050 SIMBL CS Game One as he was nearly untouchable in leading the Rascals to a 3-0 complete game shutout victory to help the defending SIMBL champions to go up on the Toronto Rush one game to zero.  Ford was magnificent in Game One of the 2050 SIMBL CS going 9.0 IP allowing only 5 hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts. The 31 year-old Ford entered the SIMBL as a Supplemental Free Agent in the 2049 off-season and inked a three-year $43,000,000 with GM Troy Vogel's Ann Arbor Wolverines.  He went an underwhelming 6-5 with a 4.02 ERA before being shipped to River City in a 2049 mid-season deal with the Rascals.  Ever since the trade, Elbert has joined Rascals' ace Bo Ford (no relation) as The Fords have been instrumental in winning River City the 2049 SIMBL championship and are two wins away from defending their title this season.  Elbert Ford has won 36 regular season games for the Rascals since the trade including going 16-8 with a SL-leading 2.82 ERA this past regular season.  Even more important, the former SIMBL SFA has gone 2-0 with a 2.61 ERA in his first three postseason starts this season after going 2-1 with a blistering 1.72 ERA in his four postseason starts in the Rascals 2049 run to the first SIMBL championship in franchise history. Ford has publicly stated he has bad blood for his former Ann Arbor GM Troy Vogel who traded him to River City ten days after he threw a no-hitter against Texas on June 18, 2049 and vowed to the SIMBL press that he'd make Vogel "pay" for jettisoning the talented pitcher out of Ann Arbor before he could even get started.

Toronto SP Jason Brewer (above) proclaimed the 2050 SIMBL CS as his "Revenge Tour" and he was blistering in Game Three of the 2050 SIMBL CS against his former team the River City Rascals.  The 35 year-old veteran halted River City's postseason win streak at 15 games with a complete-game three-hit shutout to cut the Rush's deficit in the SIMBL title series to two games to one.  Brewer was drafted by the former Boston Revolution, who are now the current River City Rascals, with the #3 overall pick of the 2036 SIMBL Draft.  He spent his first seven seasons with the organization that drafted him before being traded to Ann Arbor in the 2045 mid-season and parted with his former GM Anthony Keence in bad blood.  A couple months later, Brewer went 3-0 in his four postseason starts with a 3.49 ERA in helping lead the Wolverines to the 2045 SIMBL championship.  Brewer then signed a lucrative deal with AC Kansas City in 2047 free agency and underwhelmed in two seasons there before resurrecting his career after he signed with the Rush on a two-year $30,000,000 deal in 2049 free agency.  The still 8/8/8-rated twelve-year veteran has gone 17-12 with a 3.73 ERA in 2049 and 16-9 with a 3.27 ERA in 2050 being named to two All-Star teams the last two seasons.  Brewer is 129-118 with a 3.83 ERA in his SIMBL career and is now 8-4 with a 3.17 ERA in 15 postseason starts.

2050 SIMBL CS Games 1-3 was run on Tuesday New Years Eve December 31, 2019 and are in the books.

River City GM Anthony Keence's 2050 postseason win streak was halted at 10 games but the Rascals lead the Toronto Rush of GM Eric Savard two games to one in the 2050 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series.  Dating back to their Game Seven win against San Diego in the 2049 SLCS and their sweep of Miami in last season's 2049 SIMBL CS River City had won 15 straight postseason games.  It was the defending SIMBL champions' first loss dating back to the regular season on September 28, 2050, almost one month of undefeated ball as the Rascals swept Indianapolis in the 2050 SLDS and also swept Rochester in the 2050 SLCS.

The Rascals came up two games short of joining the 2016 San Diego Warewolves of longtime GM Paul Ware as the only team to go an undefeated 12-0 in a SIMBL postseason and now we have a series.

River City looks to become only the fourth SIMBL champion in SIMBL history to defend their title and win back-to-back championships and the second in franchise history.  Toronto looks to win the third championship in the charter SIMBL franchise's 46-season history, first since the 2038 season and to become only the 9th wildcard team to win a SIMBL championship and the first wildcard to win it all since they were the last team to do it 12 seasons ago.

Everybody have a safe and Happy New Years and we will conclude the series and crown the 2050 SIMBL champion with SIMBL CS Games 4-7 on New Years Day January 1, 2020.  If the series is tied at 3-3 we will then stop and put up a special file for Game 7.

SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series Game 1 Victory for Ford and River City

The stakes were high. Elbert Ford was ready.

The left-hander turned in a performance for the ages at Battlefield Park today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the River City Rascals to victory in Game 1 of the SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series. Ford held the Toronto Rush to 5 hits and no walks, while striking out 10. The win got the best-of-7 series off to a good start for River City, which now leads 1-0.

The Rush had little chance against Ford, who overpowered Toronto hitters and struck out 10.

"This was a good win for us," said Ford. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Battlefield Park in St. Louis. The scheduled starters for the game are Michael Bates for Toronto and Bo Ford for River City.

Rascals Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0

Riding the 3-hit performance of third baseman Andre Kidwell, the River City Rascals stopped the visiting Toronto Rush, 9-2, in Game 2 of the SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series today. Kidwell went 3-5 with a triple and 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Rascals, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.

The Rascals took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Toronto hurler Michael Bates with one out, Kidwell hit a run-scoring triple.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said River City manager Anthony Keence.

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday. Slated to start are Jacob Smith for the River City Rascals and Jason Brewer for the the Toronto Rush.

Toronto Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1

Already down in the SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series, the Toronto Rush put on their best show, beating the River City Rascals by a final score of 2-0 today. Jason Brewer earned player of the game honors, as he threw 9 innings of shutout ball. Toronto now trails River City 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

Brewer gave Toronto a solid start. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 9 innings.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said River City manager Anthony Keence.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Troy Mitchell for the River City Rascals and Eugene Davis for the the Toronto Rush.
