2047 POSTSEASON REPORTS

IT'S TORONTO VS. SAINT PETERSBURG IN 2047 SIMBL COVETED CUP CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Toronto Rush teammates storm the field after defeating the Ann Arbor Wolverines to win the 2047 ULCS and advance to the third trip to the SIMBL CS in the charter franchise's 43-season history.  The Rush became the second team in SIMBL history to win back-to-back championships in the 2037 and 2038 seasons when they ousted San Diego in six games both seasons.

Saint Petersburg Admirals teammates celebrate upsetting the top-seeded San Diego Warewolves to win the 2047 SLCS and advance to the third SIMBL CS in franchise history joining their 2008 and 2041 trips and seek the second championship in franchise history and first since the 2008 season.

The 2047 SIMBL LCS are in the books and it's on to yet another SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series in the history books.

As has been the case besides only three times in the SIMBL's 43-season history, there won't be a repeat champion this season.

Congratulations to Toronto GM Eric Savard as his UL wildcard Rush upset the #2 seeded Ann Arbor Wolverines of GM Troy Vogel in the 2047 ULCS by defeating them in five games.

It's the third trip to the SIMBL CS in the charter franchise's history.  The Rush make it to their first title series since the 2038 season in which they defeated San Diego for the second consecutive season in the SIMBL CS and became only the second team in league history and first since the 2007 season to repeat as SIMBL champions in 31 seasons at the time.  It's Eric's third trip to the SIMBL CS as he looks for the third championship in his 42nd season as a SIMBL GM which is the longest tenure outside the remaining charter league GMs.  Toronto defeated the defending SIMBL champion Montreal Mavericks of GM James Lemon in seven games previously in the first round 2047 ULDS.

Ann Arbor's Ruben Candelaria was named 2047 ULCS MVP in a losing cause.

Congratulations to Saint Petersburg GM Brandon Popper whose Admirals defeated the SL and SIMBL #1 seeded San Diego Warewolves of GM Paul Ware in five games to win the 2047 SL championship.  It's Brandon's second and the franchise's third trip to the SIMBL title series after, as the former Norfolk Buccaneers, losing to Calgary in the 2041 SIMBL CS.  The franchise looks for the second championship in franchise history to join their first title as the first of only two teams in league history to go worst-to-champions as the former Pocatello Timberjacks in the SIMBL's fourth season of play in the 2008 season.  Saint Petersburg defeated the Indianapolis Rams of GM Jeff Palin earlier in the first round 2047 SLDS. Brandon looks for his first SIMBL title in his 22nd overall season in the league.

The Admirals' Kevin Fitzgerald was named the 2047 SLCS MVP.

Congratulations to Troy and Paul on great season runs.

2047 SIMBL CS Games 1-3 will be run on Monday April 21, 2019.

Time is running out on any pending free agent contract extensions as the off-season will begin immediately after the conclusion of the title series.

We still have to also vote on our 2047 GM Awards which will open as soon as time prevails to set up.

ANN ARBOR, TORONTO, SAN DIEGO & ST. PETERSBURG ADVANCE TO 2047 SIMBL LCS

Walk-Offs & Close Games Dominate 2047 First Round

San Diego DH Kendry Barbee makes SIMBL postseason history by hitting a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Warewolves a historic walk-off win in Game Seven over the River City Rascals in the 2047 SLDS.  It's the first walk-off postseason series walk-off winner for San Diego since the historic home run SIMBL Hall Of Famer Lucas Espitia hit in Game Seven to win the 2014 SIMBL CS in seven games over Calgary winning the sixth of their SIMBL-record 11 SIMBL championships.

The 2047 SIMBL LDS series are in the books with two of the series going an exciting seven games.

Toronto GM Eric Savard's Rush upset the defending SIMBL champion and UL #1 seeded Montreal Mavericks of GM James Lemon in five games and Ann Arbor GM Troy Vogel's Wolverines defeated the Bend Bandits of GM Ted Williams in five games in the 2047 ULDS.

The UL wildcard Rush will meet the #2-seeded Wolverines in the 2047 ULCS.

The Ann Arbor Wolverines advance to their third consecutive ULCS after losing to Montreal in 2046 and beating Texas in 2045 en route to their 2045 SIMBL championship.  The Wolverines advance to the fifth LCS in franchise history (2047, 2046, 2045, 2036 and 2015) and look forward to advancing to the second SIMBL CS in franchise history after winning it all in their first appearance two seasons ago.

Toronto advances to the ULCS for the first time and their fourth LCS in franchise history after three consecutive trips in the 2037, 2038 and 2039 seasons.  The Rush look for their first SIMBL championship since becoming the second team in SIMBL history and first team in 31 years to win back-to-back SIMBL titles in the 2037 and 2038 when they defeated San Diego both times in six games.

In the SL San Diego GM Paul Ware's Wolverines defeated the Rascals of River City GM Anthony Keence in seven games of the 2047 SLDS.  Several of the games were one-run affairs and Rascal's Wilbert Billings, one of the top candidates for this season's SL Fireman Of The Year and coming off one of the best season's for a reliever in the SIMBL this season, blew two saves for River City after only blowing two in 38 save opportunities (94.4%) this past season.  The 'Wolves won the series in Game Seven on a walk-off home run by veteran slugger Kendry Barbee off Billings in the bottom of the 11th inning.

The 'Wolves advance to the SLCS for a record 18th time and look to advance to their 16th SIMBL CS (11-4) and look for their SIMBL-record 12th championship.

The Saint Petersburg Admirals of GM Brandon Popper defeated the Indianapolis Rams of GM Jeff Palin in seven games in the other SLDS.  As the case with River City's Wilbert Billings, the Rams' Victor Kennedy, along with Billings, one of the two best relievers in the SIMBL this season, uncharacteristically blew one save and took a loss in another game in the seven-game series.

It's the third trip to the SLCS for Saint Petersburg adding to their appearances in 2008 as the former Pocatello Timberjacks, who were the first of only two teams in SIMBL history to go from worst-to-champions in one season, and the former Norfolk Buccaneers in 2040.

SL #1 seed San Diego will face the #3 seeded Saint Petersburg in the 2047 SLCS.

Congratulations to Eric, Troy, Paul and Brandon on advancing and to James, Ted, Anthony and Jeff on great seasons.

We will run 2047 SIMBL LCS Games 1-3 on Thursday April 18, 2019 with export deadline of 7:00 PM EDT.

The SIMBL will be voting on their annual mandatory 2047 GM Awards next with the ballots becoming officially announced in the next day or two.  Time is running out on extending any pending free agents before the end of the SIMBL CS.

Toronto Win League Divisional Series

The Toronto Rush clubhouse was doused in champagne tonight at Toronto Ballpark Center, after the team wrapped up the League Divisional Series.

Toronto downed the Montreal Mavericks 4-2 to win the series 4-1.

For the series, Nelson hit .444 with a .476 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 4 runs.

While they may not get the sweet taste of champagne this year, the Mavericks will no doubt be drowning their sorrows tonight.

"It's never easy to lose a playoff series and I don't think there's a single guy in our room who is going to be able to easily accept that our season is now over," said Montreal manager James Lemon.

The Toronto Rush don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Bend Bandits - Ann Arbor Wolverines series. Ann Arbor leads the series 3 game to 1. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the League Divisional Series finishes.

For the series, Borba hit .348 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The Ann Arbor Wolverines will play against the Toronto Rush in the next round. Toronto won their series against the Montreal Mavericks 4 games to 1.

Home Loss Shrinks Admirals' Series Lead to 3-2

The Indianapolis Rams have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading St Petersburg Admirals, winning 6-4 at Skull Rock Stadium today. Rams left-hander Pancho Tovar was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Rams to 3-2 in the best-of-7 League Divisional Series.

Xavier Serra, who is rated as the 15th best prospect by BNN, aided the Indianapolis cause with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman was 1 for 5 with a home run.

"We'll savor this win," Serra told the Indianapolis Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."

Game 6 is set to be played Friday, October 4th, 2047 at Cobb Field in Indianapolis. Slated to start are Jesus Castillo for St Petersburg and Cristo Rivas for Indianapolis.

Already down in the League Divisional Series, the River City Rascals put on their best show, beating the San Diego Warewolves by a final score of 2-1 today. Raucous Cobb Field Crowd Propels Rams to 4-1 Victory; Series Tied at 3

The Indianapolis Rams and the St Petersburg Admirals will take the League Divisional Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Rams beat the Admirals 4-1 at Cobb Field to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Indianapolis left-hander Cristo Rivas was named player of the game in the win after he threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball.

St Petersburg had little success against Rivas and his fastball. Rivas tossed 106 pitches over 7 innings for the Rams.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Rivas said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cobb Field. Slated to start are Jason Floyd for St Petersburg and Javier Hernandez for Indianapolis.

River City Win Evens Series at 3

River City starter Bo Ford turned in an exceptional performance at Great American Ballpark today to force the Rascals and the San Diego Warewolves into a decisive Game 7. The right-handed Ford threw 9 innings allowing 3 runs in a must-win situation against San Diego, leading the way for the 7-3 River City win. The winner of the series will advance to the League Championship Series.

River City grabbed control in the top of the sixth. With one out and the bases empty, Eladio Romriell delivered a solo home run, to make it 4-3 in favor of the Rascals.

Romriell told a River City Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

St Petersburg Takes League Divisional Series in Deciding Game

The League Divisional Series went the distance before it all was said and done.

The St Petersburg Admirals and the Indianapolis Rams went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Cobb Field, the winner was the Admirals.

They put away Indianapolis 8-4 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the League Championship Series.

For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Indianapolis first baseman Malcom Young was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .375, scored 8 runs and batted in 4 to win the honor.

"It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.

The St Petersburg Admirals don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the River City Rascals - San Diego Warewolves series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the League Divisional Series finishes.

Warewolves Prevail, as League Divisional Series Goes to the Wire

Mark one up for the San Diego Warewolves.

In the crucial final game, they put away the River City Rascals 3-2 at Great American Ballpark to win the League Divisional Series, 4-3 and advance to the League Championship Series.

Although his team came up short, River City's Michael Price was named the series MVP, with many of the league media feeling the series would have been over much sooner if not for his contributions.

"Price did a lot to keep River City in it, no doubt about that," said Warewolves manager Paul Ware.

The San Diego Warewolves will play against the St Petersburg Admirals in the next round. St Petersburg won their series against the Indianapolis Rams 4 games to 3.

CANNONS' KING IS NEW SIMBL SINGLE-SEASON HIT KING

Westbury's Emerging Superstar Center Fielder Breaks One Of The SIMBL's Longest-Standing Records Going Back 39 Seasons With 237 Single-Season Hits In His Second Season In League

Westbury center fielder Bruno King (above), in his first full season in the SIMBL, broke one of the league's longest-standing offensive records in 2047 by passing Willard Gilmore's 235 hits in a single-season that dated back 39 seasons to the 2008 campaign.  The 24 year-old former #17 overall pick by the Cannons in the 2044 SIMBL Draft finished a MVP-caliber season by hitting .352 with 25 HR 90 RBI 37 SB and an OPS of .948 in his second season in the league finishing with a new SIMBL record of 237 hits in a season.

Several records and historic moments happened during the past long 2047 SIMBL season.

None were more impressive than Westbury's Bruno King breaking one of the SIMBL's longest-standing records.

Only in his second SIMBL season and first as a full-time starter, the 24 year-old #17 overall pick of the 2044 SIMBL Draft broke Willard Gilmore's single-season hits record set back 39 seasons ago in the 2008 SIMBL campaign in the SIMBL First File Era (2005-2018).

The record stood for 39 seasons until King surpassed Gilmore's long-standing mark of 235 hits in a season. Caught in a 3 for 28 slump to end his historic season, the highly-talented 10/8/7/6/8-rated center fielder nabbed the history-making hit in his third-to-last game of the season in a 7-2 loss to New York to set the new record.

The 'SIMBL Steroid Era' seasons of 2016-2018 doesn't count in league records for individual players due to the corruption of the First File Era's file that had to be retired and replaced with the New File Era Inaugural Draft prior to the 2019 season.

Cannons GM Bill Atteberry, who nabbed King in the 2044 SIMBL Draft with the 17th overall pick after the University Of Louisville product fell unexpectedly to Westbury after he was projected to be a Top 10 pick in that draft, expects big things in the future and to make King a cornerstone of the franchise for the future.

Indianapolis' Darrell Garrett previously held the SIMBL New File Era (2019-current) record with 231 hits during the 2039 season.

To show that his hitting flurry wasn't a fluke, King finished the season as a serious SL Slugger Of The Year MVP candidate by hitting .352 with 25 home runs, 90 RBI and 37 stolen bases.  King's .352 clip led the UL and SIMBL.  He also led the UL and SIMBL in total bases with 357, was 4th in the UL with 47 doubles, 3rd with 8 triples, 4th in runs with 118, 4th with 80 extra-base hits and 8th with a .948 OPS.

While King won the SIMBL and UL batting title, Saint Petersburg's Chris Covington (.342) won the SL batting crown.

Covington (221), Ann Arbor's Arlen Cox (219), Montreal's Hugh Gordon (209), Toronto's Lawrence Richardson (205), Toronto's Jonathan Kloss (204), New York's David Wayne (204), Ann Arbor's Tyler Conway (203), Westbury's Cade Maxwell (203), Calgary's Trevor Lane (202), New York's Mike Lunder (201), Cleveland's Cory Browning (200) and Calgary's Jose Antonio Gonzalez (200) all posted 200-hit seasons this year.

Oregon's Kimoyo Shimazu holds the SIMBL career record with seven seasons of 200 or more hits. Hopes to add to his record were dashed this season when he missed 29 games due to injuries and still finished with 179 hits.

Of those who achieved the 200-hit plateau this season, It was Richardson's and Conway's fourth, Wayne's, Lane's, Gonzalez's and Maxwell's second 200-hit seasons.  Covington, Cox, Gordon, Kloss, Lunder, Browning hit the mark for the first time in their SIMBL careers.

Bristol's Ty Williams posted a rare 40 HR and 40 SB season in 2047.

Ann Arbor's Manuel Ayala, Pittsburgh's Richard Millsaps, San Diego's Felipe Santana, Hawaii's Michael Wigginton, Montreal's Pedro Cendejas Jr., Texas' Doug Henderson, Bend's Bartolo Paladino, New York's Mike Lunder, Chicago's Leonard Nicastro, Asheville's Vicente Romero, San Diego's Jimmy Hunter, Montreal's Hugh Gordon, Calgary's Trevor Lane, Montreal's Pambo Rivera and River City's Eladio Romriell all posted 30 HR and 30 SB seasons this past year.

Bend, Toronto, Indianapolis, River City & St. Petersburg End Long Playoff Droughts

Rams & Bandits Make Worst-To-First History

The Road To The 2047 SIMBL Championship Has Arrived

The Bend Bandits of GM Ted Williams break out the bubbly after clinching the 2047 UL West title and go worst-to-first a season after a 71-91 record and two seasons removed from having the worst record in the SIMBL which helped them to draft 20 year-old phenom ace Eddie Batista who had a big part in improving the SIMBL charter franchise so quickly.  The Bandits end an eight-season postseason drought dating back to the 2039 SIMBL season.

The Indianapolis Rams of GM Jeff Palin celebrate after clinching the 2047 SL Central title.  The Rams improved by 21 games from a last-place finish a season ago and go worst-to-first with an impressive 94-68 rebound this season and make the postseason for the first time in five years.

2047 SIMBL LDS:
MONTREAL VS. TORONTO
ANN ARBOR VS. BEND
SAN DIEGO VS. RIVER CITY
INDIANAPOLIS VS. SAINT PETERSBURG

In a show of changing of the guard and a new balance of power in the SIMBL, five new teams will advance to the 2047 SIMBL postseason from a season ago which is the second-largest one season turnaround after last season's record six new playoff berths from the previous season.  Only defending SIMBL champion Montreal, 2045 SIMBL champion Ann Arbor and San Diego repeat from last season as Calgary, Rochester, AC Kansas City, New York and Asheville all sit home this season after playing into October last year.

UL #1 seed Montreal will meet UL #4 seed Toronto and UL #2 seed Ann Arbor will meet #3 UL seed Bend in the first round 2047 ULDS.  SIMBL and SL #1 seed San Diego will meet SL #4 seed River City and SL #2 seed Indianapolis will face off against SL #3 seed Saint Petersburg in the first round 2047 SLDS.

Congratulations to Montreal GM James Lemon as his defending SIMBL champion Mavericks (89-73) clinched their second consecutive division title after ending a nine-year drought last season which was their first division title in 9 years and are again the 2047 UL East champions.  It's the 14th divisional title and 17th overall postseason trip in franchise history.  Montreal also clinched the UL #1 seed and UL home field advantage for the second straight season.

Congratulations to Ann Arbor GM Troy Vogel as his Wolverines (87-75) clinched the UL Central and win a division title for the fourth consecutive season. It's the 11th divisional crown and also the 11th overall postseason trip in franchise history.  The historic Ann Arbor offense set a new team home runs record by shattering the old record of 270 by the 2030 Hawaii Pineapples (also then run by Vogel) by 35 home runs to set a new league record of 305 team home runs in a season.

Congratulations to Bend GM Ted Williams as his Bandits (82-80) held off late surges from divisional foes Oregon (81-81) and Calgary (80-82) and win the UL Central title by one game ending what was the SIMBL's third-longest postseason drought.  The Bandits win their first divisional title and make their first postseason appearance since the 2039 season.  It's the seventh divisional title and tenth overall trip to the postseason in franchise history.  Bend posts the 23rd worst-to-first single-season turnaround in SIMBL history.  It's the third time that the charter SIMBL GM has turned around a team from last-place to a first-place standing in one season which is the most by a GM in SIMBL history.

Congratulations to Toronto GM Eric Savard (87-75) as his Rush clinched the UL wildcard ending an eight-season playoff drought going back to the 2039 season.  It's third division title and fifth overall postseason appearance in the SIMBL charter franchise's 43-year history.  Toronto improved by 13 games from last season which was the second-biggest improvement in the SIMBL this season.

Congratulations to Saint Petersburg GM Brandon Popper as his Admirals (88-74) clinched the SL East title after a dogfight all season with divisional rivals Rochester (83-79) and Asheville (82-80) before hanging on in the last weeks of the season.  It's the fifth divisional title and sixth overall trip to the playoffs in franchise history.

Congratulations to Indianapolis GM Jeff Palin as his Rams (94-68) won the SL Central crown.  It's the Rams first trip to the postseason since the 2042 season when they advanced to the 2042 SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series before being swept by Calgary.  It's the 12th divisional title and 13th overall trip to the playoffs in franchise history.  Indianapolis improved by 21 games this season which was by far and away the best improvement  in the SIMBL this season with the Rams rebounding from a 73-89 season a year ago.  The Rams post the 23rd worst-to-first one-season turnaround in SIMBL history.

Congratulations to San Diego GM Paul Ware whose Warewolves (96-66) win the SL West title for the second consecutive season.  The 'Wolves win their 27th divisional title and make the 30th overall trip to the playoffs in the SIMBL charter franchise's 43-season history.  The 'Wolves look to add to their SIMBL-record eleven league championships and their first since the 2033 season.

Congratulations to River City GM Anthony Keence as his Rascals (86-76) held on to clinch the SL wildcard berth.  River City makes it back to the postseason for the first time since the 2042 season ending a five-year drought.  It's the third wildcard berth and ninth overall postseason appearance in franchise history.

San Diego (2005-2007), San Diego (2009-2010), Calgary (2018-2019), San Diego (2018-2019), Dallas (2021-2022), New York (2027-2028), Hawaii (2029-2030), Chicago (2034-2036), Toronto (2037-2038), San Diego (2037-2038), New York (2039-2040) and Calgary (2041-2043) are the only teams to advance to consecutive SIMBL Coveted Cup Championship Series in the 43-postseason history of the league.

San Diego (2005-2007) and Calgary (2041-2043) are the only 'three-peat' champions in SIMBL history while Toronto (2037-2038) is the only other team to win consecutive SIMBL championships.

Chicago is the only other team besides the 2005-2007 Warewolves and the 2041-2043 Clippers to advance to three consecutive SIMBL CS (2034-2036) and heartbreakingly lost all three to three different teams.

We will run the 2047 SIMBL LDS Games 1-3 on Tuesday April 16, 2019 with export deadlines of 7:00 PM EDT and as usual run the postseason SIMs each night with an export deadline of 7:00 PM EST.  If all exports are received before then and time permits then they will be announced and run sooner.

Congratulations to all of our outstanding 24 SIMBL GMs on another successful, fun and competitive 43rd regular season history of play and good luck to James, Troy, Ted, Eric, Brandon, Jeff, Paul and Anthony on advancing to the SIMBL LCS.

A post on the accolades of the past regular season by players and teams will be shortly forthcoming and the mandatory voting for the 2047 SIMBL GM Awards voting will be announced shortly as well as the playoffs carry on.  The official 2048 SIMBL Draft order will be announced as well.  After the playoffs conclude, the official 2048 off-season SIM schedule will be announced.  With that said, contract extension time is running short so get on them if you want to keep any of your projected free agents.
