LANCES' LISTS (REVISED): PLAYERS WITH MOST SEASONS WITH ONE TEAM (POSITIONAL PLAYERS & PITCHERS)
Las Vegas stalwart SS Victor Cruz (above) holds a SIMBL record that many league pundits believe will never be broken. The former third round pick by longtime Hustlers GM Carl Hannah in the 2019 SIMBL New File Era Inaugural Draft spent his entire 24-sesason career with the team that drafted him in Las Vegas. The slick-fielding shortstop was a four-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner in his long SIMBL career with Las Vegas. "The Vacuum" is one of only six players (Michael Caldwell, Dez Jordan, Julian Winfield, Chris Ross and John Coburn) to have played 24 or more seasons in the SIMBL.
By Lance Stanley SIMBL Contributor
Hey youngsters. Lance Stanley reporting for the SIMBL.
With the SIMBL's 45th season well underway let's take a quick but comprehensive "Lance's Lists" look at the positional players and pitchers who have played the most seasons with one team in SIMBL history.
As of the 6/7/2049 league date, 54 players have played 15 or more seasons with one team. Of those 54 players, 23 played their entire SIMBL career with only one team. Of the 10 players who have played 19 or more seasons with one team, only four: Victor Cruz (Las Vegas), Jimmy Wagner (Chicago), Manuel Cabrera (Bend) and Ben Mitchell (Sacramento) have played their entire careers with that team.
In the 14-season history of the SIMBL First File Era (2005-2018), the file that founded the league and played its first 14 seasons with, only seven players: Manny Martinez (Los Angeles), Michael Davis (Portland-Colchester), James Randell (Brooklyn-Birmingham-Mexico City), Adam Wells (Calgary), Dennis Hunt (Texas), John McCasland (Cleveland-New York) and Frank Emery (Asheville-Las Vegas) survived all of the 14 years in the league and with just one team.
SIMBL Hall Of Famer Bobby Grimes (San Diego) played 12 seasons (2007-2018) in the First File Era and returned as a Supplemental Free Agent in the New File Era (2019-current) and played two additional years for the Warewolves to give him all 14 seasons with San Diego before he hung them up for good after the 2022 season as a SIMBL-record eight-time Hurler Of The Year Award winner, 14-time All-Star, 11-time All-SIMBL First Team choice and a SIMBL-tying record three-time SIMBL CS MVP a record that he shares with his long-time teammate First File Era Hall Of Famer Daryl Ryles who the duo teamed up for seven SIMBL championships together with San Diego in the First File Era which they dominated with seven SIMBL championships in the 14-season history of the file.

LIVE PART OF 2049 SIMBL DRAFT CONCLUDES, FIRST FOUR ROUNDS COMPLETE
AC Kansas City GM Andy Mayfield made 18 year-old Matthew Harris (above) out of Immanuel Christian in Ridgecrest, California the #1 overall pick of the 2049 SIMBL Draft. Harris is a highly-touted 10/8/6-rated righthander that went 9-0 with an unfathomable 0.09 ERA in 13 starts in his senior year. Harris allowed only one earned run on a home run in 97.2 innings pitched with only 18 walks and 223 strikeouts. AKC looks to add Harris to its future rotation to go along with former first round picks Leroy Burbach (#2 overall pick in 2040 and the 2046 SL Hurler Of The Year), Aaron Campos (#13 overall in 2045) and highly-touted prospect Matthew Weber (#4 overall in 2046) to round out their rotation for years to come.

Boles has played for five teams making 10 All-Star teams and is one of only seven players (Daryl Ryles, Tony Aguilar, Colt McAlister, Keith Cooper, Julian Winfield and Taki Taketo) to have won three or more Slugger Of The Year MVP Awards in their career. Boles is one of only four players (Julian Winfield, Carlos Molina, Deryk Ryles) to have 3000 career hits and 600 career home runs in their SIMBL career.
The box score from yesterday's game will show that AC Kansas City beat the Toronto Rush, 3-2. It will also show that right fielder Jake Boles went 2-for-4 for the AC Kansas City. It will not show, however, that Boles reached the 3000-hit mark for his career.
The 42-year-old Boles reflected on the achievement after the game. He mused: "In one respect, it's a real milestone, I guess. Yet, it's just a base hit like any other base hit."
In his 2741-game career Boles is hitting .284 with 3001 hits, 403 doubles, 44 triples and 611 home runs. He has scored 1561 runs and driven in 1823.

CLIPPERS HOPING TO DEVELOP 2048 FIRST ROUND PICK BILL O'TOOLE AS THE SIMBL'S FIRST TWO-WAY THREAT
Calgary Clippers top prospect Bill O'Toole (above), a rare two-way talent, is being developed at the Clips' Single A affiliate Kingston Indians as a possible two-way player similar to MLB Los Angeles Angels two-way reigning AL Rookie Of The Year Shohei Ohtani. The Clippers nabbed the talented O'Toole with the #10 overall pick in last season's 2048 SIMBL Draft. O'Toole is trying to become the first two-way player to be used in the SIMBL's long 45-season history with a development plan that the Clippers and SIMBL pundits are closely monitoring.
Calgary Clippers GM Christian DeMarco and the Clipper front office's eyes lit up when prospective top-five pick Bill O'Toole was dropping in the first round in last season's 2048 SIMBL Draft.
"In our preparation and scouting prior to the 2048 SIMBL Draft, we realized that we may have a chance at something special with O'Toole," said the long-time charter Calgary GM now in his 45th season at the helm of the seven-time SIMBL champions.
The Clippers nabbed O'Toole with the #10 overall pick of the 2048 SIMBL Draft.
O'Toole was listed by OOTP draft experts as an elite 10/7/7-rated left handed starting pitcher and as a talented 8/9/9/6/8-rated center fielder at the time of last season's SIMBL draft.
Despite having other needs to attend to via the draft, DeMarco and top Clips brass had little choice in making O'Toole their pick last season. The talent potential was just too much to pass on.
Now, O'Toole is the guinea pig in an OOTP experiment that has DeMarco trying to develop O'Toole into the SIMBL's version of MLB's Los Angeles Angels two-way sensation and last season's AL Rookie Of The Year Shohei Ohtani.
The Clippers' current #1 prospect is starting this season in Calgary's Single A affiliate Kingston. DeMarco has him starting at center field everyday and starting on the mound every fifth day.
O'Toole is currently the SIMBL's 22nd-ranked prospect. Last season, he went 2-3 with a 3.65 ERA in six games in the Rookie League and 7-3 with a 2.93 ERA in 12 starts in Single A.
The 23 year-old is off to a 0-0 start this season with a 1.35 ERA in his first three starts with the Single A Kingston Indians.
He hit .357 with 4 HR and 8 RBI in just 4 games with the Rookie League Mahoning Valley Scrappers and then hit .241 with 7 HR and 16 RBI after his promotion to Single A Kingston last season.
This season O'Toole is off to a .357 start with 2 HR and 4 RBI in his first 15 at bats as the SIMBL's minor league season has just begun. Yet his current development and ratings have a ways to go.
"We're keeping a close eye on O'Toole in the organization and are closely monitoring his development and to see if there are any pros and cons to trying to develop him as a two-way player. It has never really been done in this league in 45 years so hopefully we can see this to fruition and watch it work."
As DeMarco eluded to, there has never been a successful two-way player in the SIMBL's long 45-season history. |
