Hot Bat Cooled, Roper Hitless Against Owls Friday, April 20th, 2040 Jeremy Roper's 26-game hitting streak was snapped today at Barracks Field. The 28-year-old Whitby Battalion center fielder failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats in the game against the Bristol Owls, but Whitby came out the winner, 1-0. "I don't think the streak was ever a big deal to Jeremy," Battalion manager James Lemon said after the game. "He ain't that type of guy. He just wants to help the team win ballgames." In his stats this season, Roper has posted a batting average of .379 with 25 hits in 66 at-bats, 3 home runs and 12 RBIs. He has also scored 11 runs, walked 6 times and compiled a .425 OBP. |
