Hit Streak Now at 25 for Sakata Monday, June 23rd, 2042 Win or lose, Akato Sakata just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 1 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games. The Oregon Pioneers first baseman went 1-for-4 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 4-2 by the Texas Roadrunners at Lone Star Ballpark. "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Akato Sakata grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. Sakata is hitting .332 so far this season with 53 RBIs and 39 runs scored. He has 90 hits including 17 home runs, 37 walks and .423 OBP. |
