SL's Top Pitcher in August Is Newell Thursday, September 1st, 2039 Kit Newell hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Syndicate League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice. In August the Asheville starter earned a 5-1 mark in 6 starts. He threw 45.1 innings, struck out 43 and compiled a solid 1.99 ERA. This season Newell has a 11-12 mark in 29 starts with a 3.53 ERA. He has given up 169 hits in 204 innings, struck out 173 and issued 71 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .228 batting average against him. |
