Norfolk Blanked by Curtis Thursday, October 18th, 2040 The Norfolk Buccaneers had no answer today for Asheville Smokies pitcher Mark Curtis. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 7-0. Norfolk managed only 7 hits off Curtis, who had 7 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Curtis got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Smokies fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
