Boston Shuts Out Asheville, 11-0
Sunday, May 10th , 2065
Boston Patriots hurler Anthony Vargo was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Asheville Smokies, shutting them out 11-0 on 5 hits.
"Anthony was very aggressive tonight," Boston manager JD Schloss said. "He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
Through 9 innings, Vargo tallied 6 strikeouts and allowed 3 walks.
"He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well," losing manager Pete McGowan said. "Vargo has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
Vargo has made 7 starts this season, posting 4 wins and 1 loss. Opposing clubs are batting .201 against him and he has 30 strikeouts in 56 innings with a 2.41 ERA.
