Schmidt Rips 3 HR Sunday, May 3rd , 2065 Corey Schmidt went on an explosive hitting spree against the St. Petersburg Admirals at The Park At Chippens Hill today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Bristol Owls to the 9-2 win. The third baseman finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 8 RBI. "It was just one of those days," Schmidt said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." St. Petersburg skipper David Bliley said Schmidt was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." Corey Schmidt grounded out in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jesus Oliveira in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Eric Nielsen in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off Eric Nielsen in the 7th. This year Schmidt is batting .279 with 29 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 15 times and has batted in 20 runs. |
