Calgary Gets 5-4 Win
|
The Calgary Clippers defeated the Toronto Rush, 5-4. Doing his part was center fielder Carson Reese, who was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. The winning pitcher was Tony MacNiven. He tossed 101 pitches over 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. The Union League West-leading Clippers have a record of 52-30.
With the game tied, 3-3, in the top of the sixth, Reese had a key at-bat for Calgary. With the bases empty, Reese, who led the UL in OPS with 1.196 last year, hit a solo home run off Punky Diaz, making the score 4-3, Clippers.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Reese said.
