League Championship Series Game 1 Victory for Nipper and Miami
|
Their bats were silent and Miami had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Sharks struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 24-year-old starter Frank Nipper. The left-hander quieted the Ann Arbor Wolverines at Revolution Field to help Miami take the 2-1 decision and seize a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Nipper delivered a quality start for Miami. The 5' 10" left-hander allowed 1 earned run on 2 hits over 8 innings of work.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Ann Arbor manager Troy Vogel.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Revolution Field in Miami.
