Wolverines Rally For 4-2 Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Ann Arbor Wolverines and Asheville Smokies.
The Ann Arbor Wolverines faced a tough opponent in Asheville pitcher Shumei Kouda, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Blue Ridge Stadium by a final score of 4-2. Kouda went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs. Eric O'Connor, the winner, goes to 3-9. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over 8 innings. Gunther Bailey converted his 11th save in 19 tries.
The Wolverines grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth. With no one out, Juan Jose Miranda, who is tied for 8th in the UL in hits with 71, hit a solo home run off Shumei Kouda, putting Ann Arbor in front, 2-0. For Miranda, it was his 13th home run of the season.
Miranda told a Ann Arbor Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The victory gives Ann Arbor a record of 32-30.
