Oglethorpe goes 3-for-5 to Power Mavericks Offense
|
Getting offensive support from Michael Oglethorpe, the Montreal Mavericks topped the Bristol Owls, 7-5. Oglethorpe was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Mavericks. Dax Ballard got the win, improving to 4-3. He worked 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Abel King was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Manny Cruz drew 2 walk in 4 trips to the plate for Montreal. The 30-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Travis Barrett. It was his 32nd walk of the season.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Mavericks manager James Lemon. "This one was nice to get."
Montreal goes to 22-31, Bristol to 26-27.
