Asheville Gets 6-1 Win
|
Asheville took on Sacramento in front of a lively crowd.
The Asheville Smokies topped the Sacramento Giants by the score of 6-1, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop James Polanski. Polanski was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles for the Smokies. Pablo Martinez, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 3-2.
It could have been a different outcome for Asheville, had it not been for Casey Miller, the five-time All-Star . Miller contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put Asheville up, 3-1.
Miller called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The triumph puts Asheville at 26-22 for the season.
