Rush Drop 5-2 Decision
|
The Ann Arbor Wolverines topped the Toronto Rush, 5-2, in Union League action at Michigan Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Ann Arbor pitcher Harry Sutton. Sutton went 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-3. The save went to Gunther Bailey, his 5th this season.
The Wolverines got an important contribution from right fielder Gerald Kendrick, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 0-1 cutter into left-center for a solo home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Wolverines ahead, 2-0.
Kendrick attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The win gives Ann Arbor a season record of 21-18.
