Smokies Lose, 9-7, at Revolution Field
The home crowd had a good time watching the Asheville Smokies and Boston Patriots get after it.

The Boston Patriots beat the Asheville Smokies, 9-7, at Revolution Field. Michael Love, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Boston pitcher Miguel Alvarez got the win. He's now 2-4. Brent Boyer was tagged with the loss. Greg Henderson recorded the save for Boston, his 4th of the season.

Trailing 1-0, Boston's fortunes turned in the bottom of the first inning when the fan favorite Michael Munnings lifted a full count changeup into the stands for a 3-run home run. The round-tripper put the Patriots up, 3-1.

"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Love.

Boston, now 10-20, is off to a slow start.
