Hustlers Win at Boston, 2-1
|
The Las Vegas Hustlers beat the Boston Patriots, 2-1. Las Vegas pitcher and Redondo Beach, California, native Calvin Christopher led the way. Christopher, now 1-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Gerardo Salazar closed it out for his 8th save.
Las Vegas used the timely hitting of Rick Cole to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hustlers on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Christopher said.
The Patriots, now 5-16, continue their inauspicious start.
