Knoxville and Asheville duked it out and the Lumberkings came out victorious.

Alfredo Martinez impressed in the 8-5 Knoxville win over Asheville. Martinez, who finished 2nd in the SL in batting average with .332 in 2060, went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Steffen Kerr was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Knoxville took the lead in the top of the fifth when Martinez hit a 2-run home run. His 27th home run of the season made the score 5-3, Knoxville.

"I'm proud to wear a Knoxville jersey," Martinez told the Knoxville Chronicle. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"

With the win, Knoxville raised its record to 84-53.
