Smokies Lose to Rascals, 5-2
|
The River City Rascals picked up a win at Battlefield Park, knocking off the Asheville Smokies, 5-2. Starting pitcher Lorenzo Herrera was a big reason why. The Rascals, at 60-66, sit in second place in the Syndicate League Central.
Tim McManus, who is tied for 2nd in the SL with a .417 on-base percentage, helped out the River City cause in the bottom of the third inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the first baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
In postgame comments to the River City Herald, McManus said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
