Wolverines Blank Texas, Sutton Winner
|
The Texas Roadrunners had no answer today for Ann Arbor Wolverines pitcher Harry Sutton. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 4-0. Texas managed only 3 hits off Sutton, who had 3 strikeouts.
The extraordinarily popular Sutton got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
"Wolverines fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
This season to date Sutton has a record of 8 wins and 8 losses with a 3.83 ERA, has appeared in 19 games and struck out 104 in 138.2 innings.
