Wolverines Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Ann Arbor Wolverines were eager to watch Noah Spears square off against Manuel Morin of the visiting New York Enforcers. In the end, the Wolverines won the game, 3-2, with Noah Spears leading the way. The winning pitcher was Spears, now 1-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 4.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jason Sanchez. For the game, Sanchez was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Ann Arbor a 3-2 lead.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said New York skipper Chris Gattuso, "and it cost us."
